REM behavior disorder?

I’m a college female and I’m just hoping I’ve finally found a name for what I’ve been dealing with since I was six years old. I remember, in detail, the first dream when it occurred: I was very young and dreamt that I was being chased by a king kong figure. I don’t remember running around the house and hiding in my mother’s laundry hamper, but my mother caught me and still dreaming, I bit her so hard I drew blood. They got worse little by little and one night when I was eight years old, I broke all of my toes on my right foot and some on my left, kicking the wall to fight off an attacker in my dream. However, when I hit age 13 they started to dissipate.

Now in my twenties, these episodes have become more and more rare, and progressively shorter. I still wake up sometimes to find myself standing in my closet or crouched in a corner, breathing hard and scared, but I feel they are getting more manageable and are defiantly less violent.

I’m not sure why, most of the research I found said it was more common in the elderly, but the symptoms for REM behavior disorder fit better than any thing else I’ve found. Even though most sites I’ve visited say that the episodes usually occur in or around where you’re sleeping, but in my past I’ve traveled quite far. I’ve woke up in the bathtub, the kitchen floor, and in the backseat of my car outside my house. If this is REM behavior disorder should I be worried about the episodes coming back as I age?
