Pshyco in my sleep

by: Karen on Tue, Jun 03 2008

Just to clear up any confusion I am not taking and have not been taking any anti-depressents. I was taking anti-anxiety meds because I was planning and preparing my wedding by myself and under an excessive amount of stress, which makes my episodes more frequent and more violent. The only other meds I take are for my migraines My Dr. has taken me off the Ambien and increased the bedtime dose of clonazepam to 1mg. I have been doing my best to keep a sleep journal, but a lot of times I do things that my husband doesn’t remember by morning and that I don’t wake up from or because I have a vauge memory in the morning, but can not recall the entire event. However other times I can recall everthing as if I was awake during the episode. My sleep has gotten better while I have been taking the increased dose of clonazepam, but I still have episodes that are not so nice or quiet. The Dr. advised me that aside from not having anything sharp or dangerous in my room that there is a possibility that they will not be able to stop me from doing this, that the meds may only help to minimize the episodes. I read another post where some one mentioned thinking of the humor of the situation v. the embarrasment. I agree with that post! With obvious exception for those who suffer injuries. Even though I have hurt my husband and he has spent many nights on the couch, he is still capable of finding reasonable humor in the situation, instead of anger, because he knows and chooses to understand that I do not do these things by choice, but rather by lack of.

My husband was diagnosed with RBD about 3 years ago. I knew that that is what he had years before but couldn’t find a dr. who understood what is going on. [more..]
