To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download My Story - Glad I saw a Dr I’ve been recently diagnoised with this sleep disorder. Come to find out that I’ve had it pretty much all my life. In Dec my husband was in psych class and they were discussing disorders and they started talking about this one. Turns out that his prof actually did a study on it. So I went to the only dr I had at the time, my gyn, who didn’t know what I was talking about but recommended that I get a GP. So I did and it turns out that he is also trying to get board certified in sleep disorders. I felt like he was and angel sent from heaven. We spent over an hour talking about what I did and why and so and so. I thought I just had a very vivid imagination. My dear husband wouldn’t tell me about the bruises he had or when I hurt him he would only tell me that I was talking again. Finally my dr put me on a medication for seizures and panic attacks. I’ve also had a sleep study done (they really aren’t that bad). It did comfirm that I do have the disorder. Which I was very gratefull to finally know whats wrong and that I wasn’t crazy or just a very cranky person. The doctor said that since I’ve had this for most of my life that I’ve probably never had a good night sleep and that’s why I’ve always been moody and grouchy and sleepy. Now for once in my life I don’t have to have an alarm clock to wake me up and I don’t feel like I want to go back to bed as soon as I get up. My dr said that it will take a while for me to “catch” up on my sleep or for my body to get used to actually going into normal REM sleep. I still have rough nights but they becoming fewer and fewer. Sometime I go a whole week without anything happening. My dr wanted to know if I would be willing to partcipate in clinical trials if we had any in our area. I told him yes. Because he said that if they can find out what cause this disorder that maybe they can find out what causes Alhzimers (my granny has it and if I can help in some little bit to find a cure I’m all for it). For those of you who haven’t gone to the dr and you have all the syptoms, Please go, don’t let the what if’s scare you. I feel like I have me life back or at least getting it back and it’s a very good feeling. Comments
