To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download Husband’s sleep behavior is scary My husband has had sleep “episodes” on and off for 25 years. He is 43 years old. After a little internet research, it sounds like a classic case of REM Behavior Disorder. During these sleep episodes, he kicks, flails, and flys out of bed, trying to attack an imagined intruder. It always occurs within the first 1-1/2 hours of sleep at night. These episodes have become more frequent, scaring both of us (he flies over me to get to the doorway). It would very helpful to know if there are certain foods or incidents that trigger these episodes, and to know what kind of treatment is available. Because the episodes are infrequent, getting him to participate in a sleep disorder clinic is highly unlikely. But he’s had two in the past two weeks, so we need to do something (it had been over a year since the previous episode). Comments
