To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download Trouble w/ Narcolepsy treatment I think my sleepiness started in middle school. I’d always come home and take a nap. I always went to bed at 9:00 at night on the week days because it was hard enough waking up to get ready for school the next morning. In college it started getting worse. I was always stressed and wanted to do nothing but sleep. After college it took a while to find a job and I’d just sleep all day and still be able to sleep at night. When I finally found a job I had a hour drive early in the morning and would start falling asleep on the way to work. I eventually moved closer to work and my drive was fine but I was still so sleepy and I began to lose interest and modivation to do the things I enjoyed. I finally went to the doctor and was diagnosed with narcolepsy. I was first on provigil. I hated it. The side effects were horrible. I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night, had bad headaches, my heart raced, diarria, nausea, heart burn, stomach pains. Then I was referred to a neurologist. I was put on ritalin. At first it worked great. Now after two increased dosages, I’m experiencing many side effects including, loss of appetite, muscle weakness, twiching, nervousness, loss of motivation to exercise, mood changes. I get angry, frustrated, stessed and I feel sad a lot. I hate having this disorder and I’m not sure which is better. Being treated with all the side effects or sleeping my life away. Comments
