Previousley i was the same as any other child, full of energy and life. After the accident i slowley stated to cat nap uncontrolablley during the day after a perfectly normal nights sleep. My mom took me to the g.p. to see wot was wrong with me, were they ran all the normal tests such as blood and urine. they all came back normal so they just fobbed me off to a child phycologist saying i was just suffering from p.t.s,d. My parents got frustrated as time went by because they knew in their hearts that there was something seriously not right with my weird sleeping pattern. so they went to the insurance company and i was refered to see a nerologist. I had many different tests done such as e.c.g’s e.e.g’s and cat scans but they all came back normal. I was even checked for a narcolepey gene but i haven’t got one. Years went by and when i became a teenager i started to suffer from these really strange dizzy spells where my eyes would feel like they were made of lead. I now know these to be Catapletic attacks brought on by strong emotions such as laughter. To cut a really long story short i was put on Provigil (MG) as a trial because my consultant couldn’t find anything wrong with me. They helped me stay awake and kept me alert too i was so relived. i couldn’t claim from the insurance company because their was no proof at the time that narcolepsy can be caused by head trauma but i dont care because my life is now just begining.
