Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome “sufferer”

I just found out that I had this syndrome, though I’ve been this way since I was born. I think my mother also had DSPS. I never thought it was a problem, but I did hate having to get up early to go to school! And I got teased in college about taking afternoon naps. But I found a job perfectly suited to my circadian clock — I work at night, as a newspaper copy editor. And I don’t worry about what the rest of the world thinks. I just explain that my schedule runs about four hours later than most folks so I need appointments that reflect it. I have gotten up before noon to attend events, but it has to be very special to do that!
