- I must be a lucky person! - by Roy - (Wed, Feb 18 2009)
I must be a lucky person. All my life I have struggled with my sleep pattern. Not being able to fall asleep before 2 or 3 AM and then of course having a tough time getting up early the next morning.

- i am 13. i am suffering from DSPS. i am jman - by joshua - (Mon, Feb 16 2009)
Ever since I can remember I had trouble sleeping, I thought it was normal at a young age( about 4-6). At that time it took me about an hour to an hour and a half. at about eight it got worse, it took me a good 2 hours by then. I still thought it was somewhat normal, but I was aggravated. At age 12, it got terrible, I wasnt falling asleep for 4 hours. I got worried, I brought it up with my mom, she decided to wake me up really so I would be tired at night(around 11pm) but I wasnt! So we decided to see a psychiatrist between 7th and 8th grade. At first we thought it was something to do with anxiety and depression So I was prescribed pills for that.
They did not work, they just made me feel worse. So they took me off those, and found out that I supposedly have obsessive thinking. Then they gave me pills for that. Finally, my mom did some research on my problem and finally found out I had DSPS.
We finally brought it up to the psychiatrist and she confirmed it, after that, saw a doctor, he also confirmed. As of now, I have missed 30 days of school. I fall asleep at about 3:30-6am. Some nights I will be up for 30 hours straight! ill be up night and still show up at school.
I have a problem keeping my grades up, that makes me very anxious. My mom understands my problems and supports me as much as possible! After I finally fall asleep, I sleep well. Then I wake up! I cannot wake up, it is just terrible. I have a deadly headache and im completely out of it for the first hour I wake up. I sit in front of a light box and try to eat a nice breakfast. Finally after about 3 hours of struggling to stay awake, ill wake up. then the cycle starts over again!
please just leave comments, I would enjoy talking to people with my problem. Also, any suggestions?

- Is this dspd? - by Cori - (Fri, Feb 06 2009)
I’m writing about my husband. Ever since I’ve known him he would randomly fall asleep during the day and not a little doze, he honestly could not help it. He finds it ridiculously difficult to get up in the morning and takes frequent daytime naps.
