I didn’t know it was a condition until my 19 year old son researched it. He has the same disorder and was tired of not being able to take early college classes and function like the rest of his friends. Luckily, our family doctor’s daughter has dspd and is currently being treated for it. If I hear, “Just go to be earlier” one more time, I think I’m going to scream!!! Our doc put my son on Adderol (yes, it is the stuff they treat adhd kids with). I was very wary at first, but watching my son completely turn around in less than a week was proof enough for me that it works. My son sets his alarm clock for 30-40 minutes before he needs to get up. He then takes a 20mg adderol pill and easily falls back asleep. Within 30-40 minutes, he doesn’t even need an alarm clock to awaken. He just wakes up and is ready to go! When I saw how it affected him, I met with my doc and he prescribed the same for me. OMG!!! I’m wide awake in the morning and ready to conquer the world! Normally I sluggishly function all day just thinking about when I can take a nap. Then around 9 pm, I’m ready to get things done. On this medication, I function so well during the day that I’m ready to sleep around 10:45-11:00pm. IT’S A MIRACLE!! It will open a whole new world for you!!! I’ve always wanted to be like 4 of my other siblings and enjoy early morning coffee on the patio. I’m no longer missing out on the fun stuff that happens while I was snoozing! I am volunteering in my daughter’s school and actually make everyone breakfast in the morning! The thought of that prior to this medication made my stomach turn. The medication does not make me jitter. It just gives me what I need to feel refreshed and energetic. You will naturally fall into a good sleep schedule. My son is able to get up and study in the morning before classes. I just had to share my story with all of the other people who have been made fun of because we can’t get up in the morning. No more snide comments! Comments
