- Wow, I’ve found a home! - by CP - (Wed, Aug 29 2007)
Hi again,
Just read through the whole 3 months, and boy can I relate! “If you’d just go to bed earlier!” Must have heard that 100,000 times! Now I’m in an “Active Adult Community” in AZ and seems everybody gets up at like 5 am because that’s when it’s cooler; and then they want to have luncheons @ 11 or 11:30! I’ve just finished breakfast!

- T Night Owl in the womb - by Karen - (Mon, Aug 27 2007)
I had just posted my “story” when I read yours. I am 47 and have all of the classic symptoms of ADD I have always stayed up until 2 am or so and cannot function at all in the mornings. This has been EXTREMELY difficult as a teacher and in getting my own children safely to school.

- This is ME - by Karen - (Mon, Aug 27 2007)
I’ve felt guilty all of my life because of my lack of focus and ability to function in the mornings. I am a teacher, and I beg to have 1st period planning, because I stumble around and literally don’t know what I am doing until about 10 am.

- DSPS - by Sara Nicole - (Wed, Aug 22 2007)
I almost burst into tears when I found this. I’m not alone! For as long as I can remember, I have been unable to fall asleep at night. Sleepovers at friends houses were nightmares - laying there awake in a strange house while everyone else slept soundly… I wanted to cry.

- Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome - by Tanya - (Wed, Aug 08 2007)
I just read the articles on this site on DSPS, which I never heard of before, and it really describes what is wrong with me. I am 31, and for 6+ years I haven’t been able to fall asleep at a normal time. Usually I fall asleep between 3am and 6am. I need a lot of sleep and cannot wake up after less than 8 hours. As a result I feel lot of guilt for my “bad habits”, being “lazy”, and people say I’m undisciplined for going to bed and getting up late. I’m self-employed, so that helps, but it still costs me time I could be working with clients.

- Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome (DSPS) - by LKP - (Tue, Aug 07 2007)
This “syndrome” is a problem because not everyone can work shift work. I am a school psychologist I must work when everyone else does. I’m a high achiever and wanted a profession that I have a great aptitude for, however mine, like many major professions, does not allow night and afternoon work schedules.

- Night Owl in the Womb - by CP - (Thu, Aug 02 2007)
I’ve been a night owl since the womb. My mother claims I would keep her awake all night. Sunrise is often my signal to go to bed. I was lucky enough to always have jobs where I worked the late shift at least one day a week. Then I got a job teaching at the night school. My class ended about 10:50 –I was in 7th heaven.
