I must have been to my doctors about 10 times regarding my late to sleep and late to wake problems. the lack of diagnosis has cost me dearly multiple jobs, lost for being “lazy and late.” I crashed my first car due to excessive tiredness rushing to work because i had slept through 3 different alarm clocks and had to leave the house within approx 8 Min’s of awakening. in the last few years i have been putting down on job applications a made up sleep condition to explain why i can possibly miss 2 days of work per year and be late for another 9 days at least. I class myself as above average intelligence but sometimes i come across as having learning difficulties to my peers/work colleagues due to the “fog” of tiredness. it is only today thanks to reading on the web, that accidentally i have found this condition [delayed sleep phase syndrome]. Trust me when i say all of my research is being printed off today and I shall be having some choice words with my doctor in the next few days. i know that the way i have explained my condition to him on multiple occasions EXACTLY matches up to this condition. a word to other sufferers, don’t ever hide from your condition, explain it in the workplace, they have a duty of care on your behalf. tell the truth but don’t lower your self esteem by going into depth with everyone that asks about it.
